Q: How long does it take to fold a plastic bag?
A: Seconds; speed increases with repetition and practice.

Q: Where is a good place to fold a plastic bag?
A: On an empty flat surface with room to maneuver the bag; countertop, tabletop, floor, etc.

Q: Where is a good place to store plastic bags?
A: Depends on the user. I store my plastic bags under the kitchen sink with the regular garbage bags. Store the bags wherever they are most useful and convenient; I often keep extras tucked in suitcases, gloveboxes, go-bags, sports bags, backpacks, purses, briefcases, tool boxes, etc.

Q: When is a good time to fold a plastic bag?
A: As soon as the bag is done being used for its intended purpose; however, if there is moisture in the bag, let the bag dry out before folding. Remove receipts and any debris inside the bag before folding.

Q: What are the benefits of folding a plastic bag?
A: To reduce household clutter and stop piles of clutter from forming and/or growing; to save space in the designated bag storage location; to foster the habit of staying tidy; and because it looks nicer than a puffy mess of bags shoved inside another bag, which is how I had been storing mine.

As well, folding bags provides exercise for hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity, along with a “brain game” mental challenge for remembering the proper bag folding procedure; in other words, it is an activity of daily living that can benefit young and old alike, with the understanding that anyone handling plastic bags follows all safety warnings printed on the bags and with supervision if necessary.

Q: How many plastic bags do I need to keep on hand?
A: I used all nine plastic bags in my house for this tutorial. I have instituted the rule to keep no more plastic bags than are necessary, which turns out to be under 10. There is no need to keep more than one week’s worth of bags on hand when one weekly trip to the grocery store replenishes the bag supply more than enough; plus, there are always free bags available in the bag recycling bins should more bags be needed.

Q: Who folds a plastic bag?
A: Anyone who wants to reduce clutter, save space and stay tidy. There are no age restrictions, so long as bags are handled properly with consideration for safety warnings printed on the bags.

Q: Why take the time to fold a plastic bag if it’s stored somewhere I can’t see and I’m just going to unfold it to use it again?
A: It’s a personal view on tidiness that is best understood through application and practice; in other words, you can’t knock it till you try it. Personally, I like it. Folded bags look neat and tidy and inviting to touch, and I like knowing they are properly folded and put away the same as my clothes; but someone else can say the bags look boring and that folding them is a waste of time; so, it’s a personal preference.

However, when it comes to the hygiene of a house, it is most beneficial to keep all stored bags clean and tidy for the sake of avoiding bugs and other unwanted pests.

DIY: Please try folding your plastic bags for one week (7 days) to see what you think.
At the end of the week ask yourself:
Q1. Do I like the appearance of the folded bags? (A: Yes/No/Why)
Q2. Are the bags easier to store and handle when folded? (A: Yes/No/Why)
Q3. Am I losing or gaining anything by dedicating a few moments to tidy my belongings (plastic bags) and put them away in their designated location? (A:Yes/No/What is the loss or gain)

Since it is personal preference, there are no right or wrong answers; there are simply answers for what a person finds best for their situation, and what works best for one person may not work well for another.

The Problem With TCM's Closed Captions and How To Fix It (For DISH Customers!)

Captioning Service 1 is the DISH default; switching it to 0 (zero) works with TCM captions. I don't want my MTV any more, but I do want my captions, especially on TCM where old movies are full of fuzzy sounds, funny accents, and mumbling voices -- and thanks be to the stenographers who make it possible! However, the past few months TCM's captions have not been as consistent and it made me question if they stopped captions altogether since all the other channels still had captions. The good news is TCM didn't do away with captions, but the Captioning Service setting did change without any word given to DISH customers or TCM viewers, at least not to this one. Scroll to the end to read the solution for DISH customers, or keep reading for my rhetorical digression: Gee, if only there was a way to inform paying customers of changes like this? For all the useless information TCM hosts spew, they could at least give some useful information since their captions are th

How I’m Saving Over $700 a Year by Shopping at Costco (Blue Collar Home Economics for Beginners)

Q: What’s the best way to save money when shopping at Costco? A: Buy items that are used every day! The more an item is used, the more that item is needed; therefore, if the most used items in a house are bought in bulk (at Costco or any warehouse club store), the more money it will save. I did a cost analysis on three food items that are used 5 to 7 days a week in my home and I was amazed at the findings when I compared the cost for the items in bulk to purchasing the items in smaller quantities; namely lunch cheese, coffee, and lunch meat. Please keep in mind that prices can vary by location and if there are weekly specials; the information I’m presenting is based on the prices listed on my receipts where I live, the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State. Lunch Cheese: In December of 2019 we started purchasing the 2.5lb block of Tillamook Pepper Jack Cheese at Costco for my husband’s lunches that he has five days a week, instead of the 7.5oz packages of sliced Sargento

Kinky Kicks, Disgraceful Dames, & Hollywood Hypocrisy! My 10-star Movie Review of 'Smarty' from 1934

My 10-star review on IMDb.com of ‘Smarty’ from 1934 , starring Joan Blondell, Warren William, Edward Everett Horton, Frank McHugh, and Claire Dodd:  Kinky Kicks, Disgraceful Dames, & Hollywood Hypocrisy! Marriage and divorce lawyers take a bigger beating in this movie than Joan Blondell does, and if a single slap on the face equates to domestic violence then people don't know what domestic violence really is! There is more violence against women in modern movies than there is in this film, yet people are now programmed to believe that it's acceptable for women to get beaten so long as it isn't by their husbands! Please, go sit through 'True Romance' and watch Patricia Arquette take a bloody beating from James Gandolfini if you think 'Smarty' is violence against women. Even 'Goodfellas' has more marital violence, yet both AMC & IFC can't stop showing it which tells me that reckless violence against women is the status quo per th
