Never forget American history with this original commemorative design featuring statistics from the unforgettable siege at Mount Carmel near Waco, Texas, USA, that began on February 28, 1993, and ended on April 19, 1993.
Never Forget 2/28/1993 - 4/19/1993; 51 Days, 82 Deaths, 11 Arrests, 1 Government.
A white American flag is the symbolic centerpiece of this US history lesson design that is educational both on and off the grid.
While the number of reported deaths varies from site to site and changes over the years, the fact remains that there was only one government responsible for orchestrating the civil battle in Texas which resulted in numerous needless deaths of innocent women, children, and men.
I don't know firsthand what went on at Mount Carmel before, during, or after the siege; all I know is the hearsay that has been in the media for the past twenty-six years. But no matter what happened behind closed doors on the private property of Mount Carmel, it's what happened when the United States federal government showed up and got involved that concerns me.
It concerns me because it happened in 1993, during a time when I was being taught in American public high school about the evils of Hitler, and about Japanese-Americans being stripped of their rights and thrown into internment camps on American soil by American government during World War II; now it was happening live on the news while we watched from a government classroom -- and the same government, nonetheless.
Since I was only 14 at the time, the news hype is what I remember the most, and seeing the same images of David Koresh all the time on the television and wishing something else would captivate American news because the siege did not interest me at all. Now, twenty-six years later, it does interest me, and I'm not the only one.
I created the Never Forget Mount Carmel design a couple years ago for my TeePublic shop; and every year now during the 51-day anniversary, anonymous buyers purchase various products featuring my original commemorative design. T-shirts and decal stickers with the design are the most popular so far. TeePublic has a wide selection of shirt styles to choose from, including ringers, hoodies, tanks, and more, in sizes for adults and kids -- and even onesies for little ones, too!
While I am always glad and grateful to make a sale, what makes selling a Mount Carmel design even more meaningful is the information that is being shared with the people who see the design; and that the more people who see it will momentarily pause to read it and remember this important historic event that should not be forgotten.
Thank you for reading, buying, sharing, and remembering.
